MONDAY SHOW AND TELL

There is a little winding road called Tujunga Canyon Road which we use as a shortcut to the freeway going East. This has been a vacant lot until recently, when someone with time on their hands and a love for rocks decided to stack them.

The other day, I had time and parked a little distance from the field and walked over to take a closer look. Don't have a clue who did this as I could see no signature on the rocks at the base, but several very interesting stacks. I decided not to walk the entire length of the field, but there are other similar stacks. I wonder... is it a man, a boy, or maybe a retired Grandma like me???

A little further investigation led me to a pile of rocks crying out to be stacked. However, I had groceries in the trunk and wearing a skirt so decided it wasn't my time to add to the art work even though I was tempted! I did get a few stares from folks in cars slowing down to see what I was doing.

We leave Tuesday for our trip to Texas. Don is taking his lap top so I can keep in touch with the blog world.

haha! looks like the handy work of some real nature/art lover...with lot of free time :)

But, the stacked rocks looks like the pieces of stones we stack for the seven tiles game! look at again -- the second from right looks like a human figure :)

Have a good break Wanda..and glad you will be in touch :)

wishes,
devika

In Hawaii, if you see stacked rocks like that by the roadside, it is considered a sacred place, put there by one of the local Hawaiians. Perhaps this has something to do with American Indian culture, or maybe a transplanted Hawaiian.

Have a great trip and I bet when you return you are going to go back to the rock pile and add some of your own handiwork....

Have a wonderful trip tomorrow.

Sometimes they are called cairns ... sometimes they are just sculptures because people are creative and love rocks ... very intriguing whatever the case.
